Hi,
First I was thinking about opening this thread in the admin's corner, since we cannot and do not want to have a meeting of 1500 BU members :) but finally I put it here ...
I think everybody who was in Amsterdam on the bot dev meeting agrees that this was a fine event and that it shouldn't be a single event. I know this is a hard task to get all together, but it's worth the effort for sure. And decisions on things like a united bot and / or a game will be less problematic if talking face to face. Therefore I created this thread to keep this idea in our heads :D
I'm currently studying, so apart from tests where I don't know the dates yet, the time of the meeting isnt a problem. And as long as we don't meet at NoVa's place in Australia, but somewhere here in middleeurope the place shouldnt be a problem neither.
So what about the others here ?

I have specific periods where i have tests. I also work in weekends, but when a date is set (even if it is in a weekend) i can probably arrange i have a day off.
Most easy for me is when i have vacation/holidays.
Anything in EU is fine. I think somewhere centralized would be nice, or somewhere that is relatively close to everybody. Ie, when 2 are from Germany, 1 from Netherlands and 1 from Southern-France then i think somewhere in the middle (Belgium perhaps) would do fine.
Anyway, thats just a speculation.
Something i would like to add to Asp's proposal, i think it should be a yearly event at least :)

Doing another bot dev meeting is a seducing idea... but depending on what we want we may want to restrict or enlarge the field of whom we may invite and who we don't.
If it's for discussing about serious bot coding techniques, with quality discussions, then let's redo exactly what we did in Amsterdam by Stefan's... invite AI popes like William again... and try to be a little more structured than last time :D
If it's for meeting together and having fun, then why not invite all the fellow members of this board who want to come and make a huge party somewhere ? Like those they do in the demo scene :)
We can do both perhaps
I'll be at the Oktoberfest this year ! Maybe I can meet one or two of you there ? =)

Seb
btw, is anyone here in Australia ?

that's an idea :) although munich is expensive, so we better choose on a "base" outside munich and then just go there for a night or so.
Deciding whome to invite is a difficult decision, therefore I havnt talked about it on the opening post. My idea was to get the bot developers together like in Amsterdam, but also invite important persons from bu, like mappers e.g. :) Well, they do not code, but they know how different things affect the player as well, and in terms of deciding about a new bot or even a new game, those person's can be pretty 'useful' too.
and we don't have to hang out together in one group the whole time, maybe we can divide into several 'sessions', so at one point of time, we'll have a round only of bot developers, discussing stuff that not so important for persons like soulfather :)

This thread seems to lose attention! So what are we gonna do? Let me put these questions:
- where?
- when?
the most important is WHEN. But we also have to know WHERE.
I think it would be fun to have other BU members here as well. We could eventually arrange some lan party? :)
BU-Lan! ;)
for BU members only.. Free Beer! and no messing around the security guard...

w00t! I can carry my luggable with me... as long as it's 220V at the wall socket it'll work :)
That would be fun...
About the date, I'll be moving around quite often this summer, and I honestly don't know if I'll be able to arrange one weekend. If the date is fixed and not moveable, maybe I can. But I'll for sure be busy as hell.

Probably i will hear this soon, but still...
anyway. I also have a friend who is very interested in this LAN party. We can bring our computers. I have a laptop so no problem for me ;) Perhaps we can arrange something in the summer, even if it is a weekend i woul dbe in for sure :)

as I said, i'm ok with almost all places. In amsterdam we decided to take a smaller town than amsterdam next time, to save money :)
never been to cologne, so that'd be fine with me :)
maybe we should meet somewhen all in irc like when we discussed about the asmterdam meeting. Dunno, Sunday at 15 MEST ?

I think Sunday at 8pm would be ok (GMT + 1).
While thinking about a location keep in mind the "video conference" idea. You will need some (fast) internet connection for this.
