Hi everybody. I have read alot of post talking about the SDK and giving links to differents version of it, and I dont know which one to use. Is there like a BU SDK that everyone here from BU use? or is there an up-to-date version I should get?
I noticed that Stefan has a link for a steam updated SDK. Is this the one I should be using?
Thanks in advance;)

Hi MusicMan,
/edit it now in the filebase:

should be up to date and complete. The thing is i could not test the single player stuff, and some bot's did not compile properly with the sigleplayer source tree as includes. but that only indicates incompatible changes AFAIK.
Give it a try ;)
cheers

important would be that you report back whether the singleplayer sources worked or not.

I am quite new to HL coding, so I probably wouldn't know that just yet:)

Any versions of sdk after 2.0 will work perfectly in Steam.

AFAIK only version 2.3 of the HLSDK, patched with this here seems to work:

atleast with out the patches from Alfred it did not compile

... but I'm able to run botman's old Half-life bot number 10 (which is built with HLSDK 2.0) under steam ?

well, it might run, but it will lack all new engine functions, e.g. the shield
others have reported strange things like selfkill on respawn and high server load after some rounds/hours
anyways, why start with an old sdk ?

If you use a hook DLL compiled with an older SDK on a newer HL engine, know that the interfacing will not be complete. Functions pointers will be missing and pointing to nowhere. Luckily enough the HL engine code is solid enough not to crash in these cases, but weird things nonetheless happen and it's no surprise, really...

I am using 2.2 because I have MinGW.
The only differences between 2.2 and 2.3 are VGUI stuff. Since you can't use VGUI with MinGW, you won't be missing anything from SDK 2.3 because you're using SDK 2.2 (i.e. no SDK source code bugs were fixed, only engine features added).

You mean that they did not fix the door sound bug or the 2 RPG ones?
